TERMS OF REFERENCE FOR EVALUATING BOARD PERFORMANCE FOR THE PERIOD   JULY 2019 TO DECEMBER 2020

Introduction

Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) Uganda Chapter, was launched in February 1997 as part of a network of 34 FAWE National Chapters. FAWE is a result of five visionary and distinguished African Women Ministers of Education who resolved to deal with the appalling state of girls’ education in Africa, and bridge the gender gap in education. The mission of FAWEU is “To enhance gender equity, equality and inclusion in education by influencing policies nurturing attitudes and practices and implementing interventions that positively influence girls’ education.” FAWEU envisages “A Uganda in which all girls and women effectively participate in sustainable development.”

Objective

To evaluate the performance of the Board of Directors for the above mentioned period against generally acceptable governance performance standards and work plan for the period.

We are therefore seeking a Consultant to assist FAWEU in:

• Developing Board Performance Evaluation tools

• Conducting an evaluation of the Board of Director’s performance against the Board work plan, Strategic Plan, relationship with stakeholders among others.

• Prepare and submit a report on the performance evaluation exercise

• Present the results of the Evaluation to the Board of Directors

Deliverables

The key deliverables shall be;

1. A Board Performance Evaluation tool to be discussed and agreed to by the Board of Directors

2. A report highlighting Board Performance, general observations and areas for improvement

3. A presentation to the Board of Directors about their performance, general observations and areas of improvement

• Duration of the assignment

The assignment is expected to take place from 22^nd January to 22^nd February 2021. The report will be expected by the 1^st March 2021.
