Forum for African Women Educationalists (FAWE) Uganda Chapter, is a National NGO, started in 1997 with the goal of accelerating female participation in, and closing gender gaps at all levels of education in Uganda.
FAWE Uganda, in partnership with the Wellsprings Philanthropic Fund, implemented a two-year (2022 – 2024) project titled “Community Action to End Violence against Children”.
The project’s goal was to transform the negative social-cultural norms that hinder education access, retention and completion. This goal was pursued through four (4) outcomes:
A shift in beliefs, attitudes and practices around educating girls.
Positive change in norms, beliefs and practices around parenting in the prevention of VAC at home and in the community.
Positive change in responsiveness of the legal and justice system in the prevention of and response to VAC.
Evidence-based programming through learning from practice in the prevention of VAC.
