Raising awareness on Menstrual Hygiene

FAWE Uganda through its alumni collaborated with Hope Awareness and Literacy Club (HALC), a local CBO to participate in Menstrual Hygiene Awareness in Kyankwanzi District on Thursday 14^th – Friday 15^th July 2022. The awareness addressed issues like menstrual stigma, openness to parents and authority to discuss health issues and concerns.

The team distributed menstrual hygiene kits and conducted sessions on menstrual hygiene practices in Byerima Primary School, provided training manuals and guidelines on the roles and responsibilities of senior women and men teachers.

During the teaching, proper use and disposal of sanitary pads, the importance of washing hands before and after changing pads, the myths and misconceptions surrounding menstruation as well as raise awareness of the situation where many girls don’t have access to sanitary products.

The alumni appeared on a radio talk show on Voice of Kyankwanzi to create further awareness on menstrual health hygiene.
